In my 24 years of professional practice I have successfully treated most of the conditions that respond favorably to Chinese medicine, including a broad spectrum of medical complaints. Specialties include women’s health and fertility issues, detox support, acute and chronic auto-immune conditions, pediatric medical and behavioral conditions, and working with needle-phobic and sensitive persons. In addition, acupuncture is efficacious in assisting disease prevention, supporting "whole person" wellness, and enhancing the effectiveness of other traditional and nontraditional modalities.
I have been a NY State licensed acupuncturist for 19 years. I was a diplomate of the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine for 15 years, shortly to return to active status. I have been a disciple and practitioner of the Jade Purity Taoist tradition for 20 years, having trained with Taoist Master Jeffrey Yuen. My training and experience have given me professional expertise in treating diseases and chronic conditions difficult to treat through other disciplines.
I began training in the classic master-apprentice tradition as an apprentice for several respected acupuncturists in Austin, TX, and Santa Fe, NM. I trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine under Stuart Watts, OMD, (1981-83) and Drs. Paul and Lisa Lin (1983-1984,Austin TX). Dr. Watts has been the founding director of two colleges of Oriental Medicine in Santa Fe, NM and Austin, TX.; Drs. Lin are the founding directors of the Texas College of Traditional Medicine in Austin, TX. I completed a two-year program in Chinese herbal medicine at Tri-state Institute of TCM under Ted Kapcuk OMD (1990-92). I also completed seven continuous years (1991-1998) of advanced studies in Classical Taoist medicine with Taoist Master and Lineage Holder, Jeffrey Yuen in New York City. Mr. Yuen an internationally recognized Master of Oriental Medicine.
I am a disciple and student of Grand Master Wei Zhong Foo, current Lineage Holder of the Emei Linji Chan Qigong system and a Level II practitioner of the Da Dao Chan Qigong healing and cultivation system that he has transmitted.
I have successfully completed numerous continuing education and professional development trainings in healing techniques including the use of moxabustion, cupping, herbs, Qigong, Acutonics, and other advanced systems. I am a certified Level III practitioner of Acutonics. I have received specialized training in China by Masters of Qi Gong, and at the Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Under the tutelage of Misha Cohen, OMD, a recognized expert in the field, I became professionally certified in the combined Western and Oriental medical treatment of patients with HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis C.
Originally I learned the NADA detox protocol, which he developed and introduced, from Dr. Michael Smith, founder of the well-known Lincoln Hospital Project in the Bronx, NYC. In 2001 I was certified as a NADA Acupuncture Detox Specialist.
Born in New York City in 1950, I was raised in two ethnically diverse, multi-cultural neighborhoods until I moved downtown to attend NYU as a dance education major. An injury sustained during my training as a dancer interrupted that path early on, and became the gateway into the exciting, colorful and unique life-path that has led me to this point in my life. I am a father and grandfather to a wonderful son and magical granddaughter and their family. I have lived in Sag Harbor since 1987, and have maintained a full time professional practice in the Hamptons since then.
Voted "Best of the Best" Acupuncturist in the Hamptons by Dan’s Papers’ Readers’ Poll, 2008, 2009, and 2011 (Platinum level).
